How It Works
With traditional braces, the brackets tend to be mass-produced and require Dr. Ouellette to place the brackets on each individual tooth, one at a time. This procedure can be quite meticulous and time-consuming for everyone! However, with LightForce, we use the technique of indirect bonding, which means the entire set of brackets is placed on a model of your smile in the exact position Dr. Ouellette prescribes. Once the brackets are fitted, they are bonded directly to your teeth, and with this technique, the brackets can often be placed in less than an hour!
Here’s what the LightForce process looks like:
- Starts with a digital scan of your or your child’s smile. Digital scanning allows us to see much more detail in the full dental picture.
- Dr. Ouellette creates a digital treatment plan that is fully customized to your needs with every tooth movement preprogrammed from the onset.
- The appliances (brackets) are then manufactured utilizing 3D printing for each tooth’s unique shape and intended movement.
- Prior to the bonding appointment, LightForce provides a 3D printed tray, custom to your teeth, to place the 3D printed brackets in the exact position to make the treatment as efficient and effective as possible.

The bonding process is also a unique feature of LightForce. Rather than bonding each bracket one by one, we create an exact replica of your smile as a model for the bracket placement. Then, the entire set of brackets is placed all at once.

Treatment time varies and can typically last between one and two years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is.
