At St. John’s Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer a number of affordable braces options for both children and adults. Our comprehensive orthodontist services include identifying issues that need correction, then finding the best solution and helping you move forward.

One option that many people find beneficial is ceramic braces, which often hold a few specific advantages over other braces types. Let’s look at what a few of these advantages are, and when you might want to consider this option.

For starters, ceramic braces are some of the best out there when it comes to blending. Fear of aesthetic issues is one of the biggest people issues many people have with braces in the first place, so an option that makes the braces less obvious within the mouth is a huge benefit for many people, particularly socially conscious friends.

Ceramic braces are semi-translucent, which means they’re meant to blend into the mouth. They can also come in a tooth-colored ceramic, and in many cases they’ll appear virtually invisible to outside observers unless they’re unnaturally close to your mouth. You get these benefits without sacrificing anything in terms of overall quality.

Metal braces can sometimes have small issues with removal when bonding agents seal too well on the teeth, and this can damage enamel. Ceramic braces, though, can be easily removed without risk of enamel or any other damage.

Ceramic braces are designed to be strong and durable, with less incidents of chipping than other styles. They’re made from a composite material that’s much stronger than older versions, and they’re guaranteed to las as long as they’re needed so long as they receive proper care.

Gum Irritation

Metal braces may also cause gum irritation issues for some people, generally due to the wiring. Ceramic braces don’t have as many opportunities to inflame the gums, as they’re made with greater soothing materials.
